Of course, all of these historical threads are intertwined. History is a pretty complicated beast. So many things happen which cause other things to happen. That's why the time-travel Star Trek episodes are the hardest to believe. That's why I don't believe that there will ever be a time machine. Because if there will ever be one, then, since someone would eventually travel into the past to see what it was like, there will always have been one, and since there has never been one, there will never be one. Clear as mud?
